Futurama Returns to Comedy Central
So apparently Comedy Central has decided to bring Futurama back with 20 some odd new episodes next year. All I can say is Fuck. Yes. I love this show, and it is probably my favorite animated show up there with The Simpsons and King of the Hill.
I loved the four movies for the most part, though Benders Game was a bit eh. Benders Score was great just for the continuity the writers showed in it. It was basically a lot of random memorable moments/things from the series original run.
There probably isnt one episode of the series I would ever skip over or didnt enjoy in some way, and I honestly cant say that about much other television shows out there. It was always just a great concept with a great delivery, and they have the advantage of having the show set in the future, so if they run out of ideas they can just create a new planet out of their ass (Urectum~!) or something similar.
I just hope that this doesnt become another case of Family Guy, where the new episodes are rather shit without much work being put into them. I dont think Futurama has to worry too much, though, considering the show doesnt rely on stupid cutscenes all the time. I seriously would have preferred FOX picking Futurama over Family Guy as the show to bring back, knowing now how bad I think Family Guy is after repeated viewings of old episodes and mostly shitty newer ones.
Anyways, this news makes me extremely happy. I cannot wait for the return and I hope Comedy Central keeps the show around for more than just the one extra season. The show has to remain on the air for at least 2-3 new seasons. Just do it. Give me more fucking Futurama. Now. Please.
